As the 2012 elections approach I have to wonder, "How do we get Washington's attention?". The only thing I've been able to come up with is refusing en masse to vote in federal elections. I think it's a waste to cast a vote for the lesser of two evils. It has been many years since there was candidate to actually vote for. I'm not saying abstain from voting altogether. By all means vote for local candidates, mayor, sheriff, judges, etc. Local politics is the only chance we have to make any kind of difference. Just leave the presidential and congressional boxes blank, let them know that neither candidate is acceptable.
It's probably too late now to launch an initiative like this for 2012, but maybe in future elections we can join together and tell the corrupt and out-of-touch politicians to either step up or stay home...
